MIKE FLOOD, first released in 2008, is a toolbox that allows for integrated flood modeling through dynamic coupling of the MIKE HYDRO for rivers, MIKE URBAN for collection systems, and Mike 21 for 2D surface water flow.. In general, hydrologic and hydrodynamic processes, and interactions between the two, play a key role in determining how flood dynamics are modeled. MIKE FLOOD has a wide range of applications, including flood forecasting; flood management and mitigation; flood risk analysis and flood hazard mapping for industrial, residential or cultural heritage areas; flood contingency planning such as evacuation routes and rescue priorities planning; climate change assessment; dam breach and flood defense failure studies; and integrated urban, river and coastal flood modelling.
Key features of the MIKE FLOOD model include a Graphical User Interface (GUI), GIS capabilities, a comprehensive hydraulic structure package and parallelization computing options.
