In Stream

Description: In stream mounted system is where the sensor or components associated with the sensor is placed in the stream. In stream systems include submersible pressure transducers, bubblers, upward looking ADCP's. Sensor are located in the stream to measure all ranges of water level. In stream mounted sensors are susceptible to fouling and damage from debris and toxic water. In stream systems are best suited in channels without debris, sedimentation. The most suitable are on shallow sloped river courses devoid of debris and alluvium carred by extreme flood events.

Advantages: In stream mounted systems provide a mounting technique for sensors that require mounting in the water. It is best suited for submersible pressure transducers, bubblers and Upward looking ADCP's in canals and calm streams where debris and sedimentaiton is minimal.

Disadvantages: In-stream measurement is susceptible to damage by debris carried by the water, especially in high water.
