Description: The use of Ion Selective Electrodes (ISE) is a water quality monitoring technique that uses membrane electrodes which respond selectively to ions in the presence of others. A variety of membrane materials (liquid, gas- sensing, etc.) are used by different manufacturers to measure parameters such as Ammonia, Chloride, Nitrates and ph. ISE sensors can come as standalone sensors or part of a multi parameter sonde.
ISE sensors should be routinely maintained to ensure the best performance. Probes may need to be cleaned when deposits of contaminants appear on the ion-selective membrane at the tip of the sensor. Ion selective membranes are fragile and it is crucial to follow manufacturer guidelines for maintenance procedures
