Description: Atmospheric pressure on a given surface is the force per unit area exerted by virtue of the weight of the atmosphere above. Most barometers make use of pressure transducers and relate the pressure exerted on the sensor to an analog or digital output. The WMO recommends a measurement range of at least 500-1080hPa and a resolution of 0.1hPa for barometric pressure sensors.
