There needs to be a concerted effort to set up platforms for sharing public domain data using emerging open data standards (e.g. OGC for spatial services or open APIs).
India has taken strong steps to move towards a “Digital India” and this should help facilitate the
enhanced use of ICT:

India is also exploring ways in which the “Smart Cities” concepts can also be customized and applied to create “Smart Villages” across India.
ICT could play a major role in making cities “smarter”. This will require learning from, and contributing to, global good practice in a rapidly changing technological environment. It will require true modernization and integration of city services and a shared vision for the future. Each institution (government at all levels, citizen, academia, CSO, private sector) has to embrace this change for the efforts to be effective and sustainable.
