Recent projects being financed by the World Bank are incorporating IT tools and applications to empower rural communities. Related to this aspect, for example, in the “Forest and Community Project” in Argentina, (approved in March 2015), emphasis is being placed on the preparation of forest management plans, development of forest landscape maps, expansion of existing community radio stations, establishment of a national deforestation and forest degradation early warning system, monitoring of a national grid of permanent sample plots, etc - where IT tools and applications could play an important role.
