Cableway

Description: A cableway is a permanent stream gauging infrastructure that spans the cross section of a river. Historically cable ways would support a manned cable car that could traverse the river cross section, allowing the operators to make incremental hydrologic measurements. For safety reasons, the industry has been slowly shifting to unmanned cable systems where the measurement equipment can be operated remotely from the bank.
