Data Distribution & Latency

Description: It is often an advantage to employ a system that provides data distribution through the method it uses to provide data relay. An example of good data distribution is Geostationary Satellites where data is transmitted from the satellite to all points within satellite view. All one needs are a satellite ground station or LRIT. An example of a system that does not provide data distribution is terrestrial based radio systems, and GSM/GPRS.Latency has to do with the delay from the time the data is measured to the time it is received by the user. Users responsible for emergency services and public safety require the least latency. Increased latency reduces the lead time to react to the situation
